How I got here. . .
I’ve always loved telling stories. As a child I loved telling tales to my siblings and younger cousins. When I got older I used storytelling and puppetry as a way to connect and engage with my students as a classroom teacher. Then, one day I raised my hand at a Moth storytelling event. With no planning or forethought, I told the story of an internet date gone woefully wrong. I won the story slam and had an ‘aha’ moment. This was something people did! It was something I could do!
That event led to more opportunities to tell stories at the Moth, locally at public libraries and in ensemble shows. Then, In 2020, when COVID hit I learned to play the accordion. It was love at first squeak. I started writing songs and incorporating them into my stories. In 2023 I received an emerging artist grant from RAAC, that led to the creation of a longer 1 hour musical storytelling show. I toured with that show, sharing it locally and internationally. I feel very grateful for the opportunity to share my own experiences as a human on this planet, singing silly songs and imagine (with my audience) what could be.
